Gardens and park of Schloss Thalheim — 7 hectares of private grounds

Baroque Garden

The Baroque garden was restored according to the original 17th-century design. The symmetrical layout follows the principles of Baroque garden design: clear axes, geometric planting beds, and a spatial relationship between the castle building and the garden. The restoration drew on historical plans and the surviving garden architecture of the estate.

Rose Garden

The rose garden forms a distinct garden area within the overall ensemble. It is designed as a contemplative retreat, with emphasis on fragrance, colour, and the meditative quality of rose plantings within a historic setting.

Zen Garden near the Tea House

Adjacent to the tea house is a Zen garden that brings Japanese garden tradition into the Lower Austrian landscape. The garden is oriented toward stillness, contemplation, and the principles of Zen aesthetics. The tea house itself is currently closed until further notice.

Terraced Hillsides

The terraced hillsides were restored according to the original 17th-century garden architecture. They follow the natural topography of the valley in which the castle sits, creating park terraces with varying perspectives across the estate.

Park Panorama & Restaurant Terrace

The park panorama is visible from the Restaurant Am Schlossgarten terrace. The terrace opens the view across the park and gardens, connecting the restaurant experience with the landscape of the estate.

The Estate as an Energy Site

The Schloss Thalheim grounds are regarded as an ancient energy site used by the Celts. Energy lines traverse the estate. Sandstone boulders and flowers of life embedded in the ground are part of the energetic design. This dimension is an integral part of the identity of Schloss Thalheim and shapes the atmosphere of the grounds.
