Tea House
The tea house is currently closed until further notice.
The Schloss Thalheim tea house is a freestanding building in the park dedicated to tea culture and the tea ceremony. It is situated adjacent to the Zen garden, forming a connected ensemble of East Asian garden and cultural tradition within the castle park.
The Building
The tea house is conceived as a standalone building in the park, bringing the Japanese tradition of tea house architecture into the Lower Austrian landscape. It has served as the setting for tea ceremonies, contemplative gatherings, and cultural formats centred on tea culture.
The adjacent Zen garden forms the outdoor space of the tea house and complements its meditative character through the Japanese design principles of stillness and composition.
Tea Ceremonies
Tea ceremonies — cha-no-yu and related forms — are part of the cultural program at Schloss Thalheim. While the tea house itself is currently closed, tea ceremony formats may take place within other spaces of the estate as part of programs and events.
